In honour of World Mental Health Day 2024, join the Network for Black Women Leaders for an empowering poetry workshop led by poet Tunde "T." Balogun, author of "Blouse an’ Skirt, Babe!!!". This interactive session will focus on using poetry as a medium to reflect on mental health, wellbeing, and personal growth. Through Tunde’s words and creative exercises, participants will explore the themes of equality, mental health, and self-expression, particularly as they relate to Black women in the workplace.

Workshop Overview:

  • Welcome and Introduction: Tunde will discuss how poetry became her therapeutic outlet during the 2020 lockdown and its continued role in her life. She’ll also explore the connection between poetry and mental health.
  • Interactive Poetry Writing: Participants will engage in a guided poetry writing exercise, focusing on expressing emotions, experiences, and challenges related to mental health and workplace wellbeing.
  • Sharing & Discussion: Participants will have the opportunity to share their work in a safe and supportive space. Tunde will facilitate an open discussion on how writing can aid in emotional wellbeing and foster resilience in the face of life's challenges.

Key Themes Explored:

  • The importance of prioritising mental health in the workplace.
  • How poetry can serve as a healing tool for personal and collective trauma.
  • Creative expressions of resilience, empowerment, and self-care.

Who Should Attend:
This workshop is open to members of the Network for Black Women Leaders and Black women interested in exploring mental health through creative writing. It is especially relevant to Black women of African and Caribbean heritage navigating workplace challenges, leadership roles, or those looking to prioritise their mental health in a positive, empowering way.

Don’t miss this opportunity to reflect on your mental health journey and harness the power of words to foster well-being.
